Having been an owner of a Dyson Pure Cool Link (desktop) previously, we were keen to see how the new model compared. We have the new model TP04 (tower) Pure Cool Link. The build quality is still the excellent quality you would expect from any Dyson product. Sturdy, and made with quality materials. At first glance there are no huge differences in how the machine looks. However, when the machine is plugged in and switched on, that's when the changes become apparent. Firstly, the small display on the previous model has been replaced with a larger LCD display that enables you to cycle through various modes. This is a big improvement on the older model, as you can now easily see what the machine is doing, and how it is performing. There are 2 other major performance improvements that I immediately noticed with the newer model. 1) The Oscillation. This can now be set to various degrees of "turn", and can turn 350 degrees, rather than the limited oscillation the previous model had. 2) There is now a "diffused air mode". What this allows you to do is still clean and purify the air, but not necessarily having to have the machine blowing in a Fan mode. The machine still connects to the Dyson Link app, and there is a wealth of information that can be learned from using this. Outdoor air quality and temperature, in addition to how the quality and temperature of the air in your own room/house, to name just a few. I would certainly recommend this new and improved model to anyone, and especially for those who have any issues or allergies such as asthma/hayfever etc.

Frequently asked questions

Should I change the fan settings in different seasons?

Increasing airflow will create a cooling effect using purified air, so you may find it beneficial to change your purifier fan's speed settings as the temperature changes. For personal cooling in summer, use settings 4-10. In colder periods, enable diffused mode. It projects air through the back of the machine, to avoid unwanted cooling.

Does the LCD display stay on throughout the night?

If you're concerned by the brightness of your purifier fan's LCD display, consider enabling Night-time mode using your remote control or the Dyson Link app. During operation, a small moon icon indicates that your purifier fan is on, but the main display turns off after 10 seconds to help avoid sleep disturbance.

How do I know when my purifier fan is in auto mode?

If auto mode is enabled, AUTO will be illuminated on your purifier fan's LED display. When your machine is purifying the air, AUTO will be in white. When the air in the room is purified, it will turn green and your purifier fan will remain idle until pollutant levels rise.

How long should my purifier fan be turned on for?

Your purifier fan's auto mode is designed to manage the air quality in your home without you having to operate the machine – so it's only on when it needs to be. If you or someone in your home suffer from allergies or respiratory illnesses, we particularly recommend using your machine's auto mode.

Where should I place my purifier fan?

Your purifier fan is engineered to purify single rooms, so you should use it where you spend the majority of your time at home. When placing the machine, make sure there is at least a few feet of clearance on all sides so that the air can circulate effectively.

Should I keep my windows open or closed?

Your purifier fan works most efficiently in a sealed environment – opening the windows can allow more pollutants to enter the air in your home, which means your machine will take longer to work.
