Frequently asked questions

Does Dyson give free replacement parts?

If your machine is under warranty and the issue is covered, we’ll replace the part at no cost.

Does using a Dyson brand filter make a difference?

Yes – only genuine Dyson filters are tested to meet performance standards. By using genuine Dyson parts and accessories you are ensuring your machine works as intended. Using imitation Dyson parts may result in your warranty becoming invalid.

When should I replace my Dyson vacuum battery?

All our cordless machines come with a 2-year Dyson guarantee on parts and labour. If your machine starts to run for a shorter time or doesn’t hold charge, it may be time to replace the battery. For the best results, replace with genuine Dyson batteries as cheaper aftermarket batteries can have shorter lifespans. For full troubleshooting diagnostics please visit our Dyson support site

How do I clean my Dyson air purifier filter?

No cleaning is required. Some conventional filters require you to change, wash, and dry several layers of filters for one machine. This can be time consuming and cleaning the filter can also damage its efficiency. Dyson engineers therefore choose to protect our filters with a plastic shroud and make them replaceable, rather than washable.

How do I change my Dyson vacuum filter?

We engineer vacuums that are simple to use and easy to look after. Dyson cordless vacuum filters are engineered to capture microscopic particles, but over time, these particles can build up in the filter and reduce performance. By washing the filter once a month, you can help maintain suction power. Follow these easy steps for cleaning/replacing the filter:

  1. Turn off your machine
  2. Remove your Dyson filter(s)
  3. Wash filters in cold water only
  4. Dry filters
  5. Replace
