Dyson Ball. No awkward moves. No loss of suction

Vacuums with fixed wheels can be awkward to steer. Dyson Ball™ vacuums turn on the spot, moving easily around obstacles and furniture. Key components, including the motor, are located inside the ball for a low centre of gravity and greater stability.

Dyson Ball™ vacuums have cleaner heads and floor tools that have been engineered to optimum performance. And like all Dyson vacuums, they don't use bags to capture dust, so there's no loss of suction. Dyson cyclones capture more dust and dirt than any other. The latest Dyson Ball™ vacuums have Radial Root Cyclone™ technology, with remodelled airways to maximise suction power.

Cleaning performance

Dyson Ball™ cylinder vacuum cleaners

Dyson floor tool

DC38 and DC39 are new Dyson cylinder vacuums with Ball™ technology. Conventional cylinder vacuums that use fixed wheels or castors can be awkward - heavy to pull, head the wrong way and collide with obstacles. A Dyson Ball™ cylinder vacuum cleans without the awkward moves, turning on the spot. DC38 and DC39 also have a central steering mechanism for greater control. The pivot point is located near the centre of the machine, so they can make tighter turning circles and more easily follow the user's path.

DC38 is compact, is lightest to pull across different floor surfaces and has the performance of a big vacuum. DC39 Animal is full-size and removes more dust than any other cylinder vacuum cleaner. Both DC38 and DC39 have been engineered for reduced noise levels with no compromise in cyclone performance.

To prove that DC39 Animal removes more dust, our engineers measured pick-up performance using test protocols IEC 60312; 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 & 2.9. At bin full DC39 Animal removes more dust in total from hard floors, carpets and crevices.

DC40 and DC41 are new Dyson Ball™ upright vacuums. More key components are housed within the ball, reducing clutter and streamlining the profile of the machine. They're easy to steer into difficult places.

Both machines have a cleaner head with an active base plate that self-adjusts automatically for optimal contact with all floor types. There are no fiddly dials, so there's no need to bend down to make adjustments when moving between rooms.

DC40 is lightweight at just 6.7kg, while DC41 is a full-size machine. Both have an instant-release high-reach wand that stretches to the top of stairs.

Also with Ball™ technology, DC24 is an ultra-lightweight and compact upright vacuum. Its handle compresses to make it easy to carry and store.

DC41 Animal removes more dust than any other vacuum. To prove that DC41 Animal removes more dust, our engineers measured pick-up performance using test protocols IEC 60312; 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 & 2.9. At bin full DC41 Animal removes more dust in total from hard floors, carpets and crevices.

Engineering and technology

Inside Dyson Ball™ technology

Ball engineering

Dyson Ball™ vacuums steer very differently to conventional vacuum cleaners. They ride on a ball, which turns on the spot so you can steer smoothly around furniture and other obstacles. The edges are smooth to reduce friction, and don’t dig into carpet pile.

The ball also houses many of the fundamental vacuum cleaner components. With DC38 and DC39, even the cable rewind system is located inside the ball. This creates a low centre of gravity, increasing stability and control.

Radial Root Cyclone™ technology

Radial Root Cyclone™ technology

Dyson’s patented cyclone technology captures more dirt than any other. Dyson has been continually refining cyclone technology for vacuum cleaners since inventing it more than 20 years ago.

With Radial Root Cyclone™ technology, reconfigured air channels and improved flow efficiency reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, maximising suction power.

These refinements help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the airflow.
